Al Hoceima’s mayor and president of the Moroccan Association of Mayors Mohamed Boudra was elected Friday in Durban the new president of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). Boudra came first after the Russian candidate Ilsur Metshin withdrew from the competition.

Mohamed Boudra praised the commitment of all UCLG members who contribute to the debates both among the members of the organization and with the civil society. «This huge task we are tackling today can not be done without the commitment of everyone», he said.
For the record, Mohamed Boudra is a Doctor of Medicine specializing in radiology. He has practiced his entire career up until 2003 when he was elected head of the Communal Council and became Mayor of Al Hoceima.
