For the third time in a row, Brahim Ghali will not be able to attend the 44th edition of the European Conference of Support and Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO), scheduled for 22 and 23 November in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.
The Polisario’s head is avoiding arrest in Spain, where he is accused of presumed crimes of murder, damages, illegal arrest, terrorism, tortures and disappearances.
In 2016, the judge of the National Court José de la Mata reopened the case against Ghali. The judge’s decision comes after the Sahrawi Association for the Defense of Human Rights (ASADEH) lodged in 2008 a complaint accusing Brahim Ghali, 23 Polisario officers and five Algerian army officers of «genocide, torture and disappearance».
While Ghali is not attending the event in Spain, the Front’s «Prime Minister» Mohamed Wali Akeik and the «Parliament Speaker» Khatri Addouh will fly to Vitoria.
