In the near future, the Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie is to receive five EC145 helicopters from the Swiss Air Rescue Service (REGA). The delivery is indeed planned for the weekend, according to forum FAR Morocco which published a video of the departure of the vehicles.

The aircraft already carry Moroccan registrations, Medias24 said, noting that «after their reception, they will be repainted with the colors of the Royal Gendarmerie» to «strengthen the UAS system».

The same source explains that the operation is «part of the capacity building of the Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie for intervention, search and rescue in isolated areas».

FAR Maroc indicates that these helicopters have been used for 15 years by the REGA and have been subjected to regular maintenance. «Moroccan officials confirm that these machines can still be used for another 25 years», says Medias24.

In the coming weeks, Morocco will also have to acquire three more rescue helicopters.
