The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (IGLA) said in a report published, Tuesday, that 170 people were accused of «homosexuality» in Morocco in 2018.

According to IGLA, these arrests were based on Article 483 of Morocco’s Criminal Code. «Anyone who, by his state of voluntary nudity or the obscenity of his gestures or his actions, commits a public outrage to modesty is punishable by imprisonment for a month to two years and a fine of 200 to 500 dirhams», indicates the Article.

In its report, the NGO denounced the obstacles that LGBT community activists are faced with, referring to Akaliat (Minorities), an association which was unauthorized by the authorities.
