Turkey deports a Moroccan national over terror links

Turkey has deported a Moroccan national who is suspected of being a terrorist fighter, the Turkish Interior Ministry said in a statement released on Thursday.

According to Anadolu press agency, the Moroccan was sent back to the Kingdom alongside a German national who was also deported to his country of origin.

The Interior Ministry did not specify which terror group the fighters belonged to, but it said that the decision is part of «Turkey’s ramped-up efforts to repatriate foreign terrorist fighters».

Turkey is deporting other foreign terrorist fighters as well as ISIS members and their families detained in Syria, the same source added.

For the record, Turkey has deported so far 7,500 ISIS members while 1,149 others are pending deportation.
