The sublime voices of four female figures from the Aïta and the Amazigh musical repertoire of the Rways resounded, Friday evening in Brussels, during a colorful concert organized as part of the Darna Fest - Echoes of Moroccan ceremonies festival.

On this occasion, the four artists offered the public performances that represented the cultural diversity of Morocco and recalled the beauty of its natural landscapes.

In front of a packed room, the first performance was given by Aïta Mersaouia diva Khadija El Bidaouia. An emblematic figure of popular Moroccan music, she immediately won over the audience with her voice, as powerful as it was melodious, her charisma and her liveliness on stage.

The Aïta genre was also represented during this concert by Khadija Margoum, who rubbed shoulders with big names of the art such as Fatna Bent L'houcine, Cheikha Hamounia or even the Ben Aguida brothers, before earning a special place on the popular music scene in Morocco.

Following the Aita performance, Amazigh music was also introduced to the Brussels public, who had the opportunity to discover Fatima Tachkout. The latter embodies the new generation of Rways and stands out with lyrics that deal with current, social and human issues.

The young Rayssa won the hearts of her audience by interpreting Amazigh songs with astonishing rhythms, magnified by a masterful and graceful choreography.

This concert dedicated to the Moroccan musical heritage was closed in style with the Fatima Tihihit which continues today the tradition of the Rayssates. Considered as one of the most important heirs to this Amazigh musical heritage in Souss, Tihihit has gifted the public with some of her most popular songs.

For Brahim El Mazned, artistic director of this concert, these four female artists were chosen in order to «highlight the art of Aïta and that of the Rways, two great and very dynamic schools of Moroccan music that are particularly appreciated in Morocco».
