The United States Department of State has repossessed Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) dogs from Morocco, the US Office of Inspector General (OIG) announced in a December report.

Entitled «Management assistance report: Continued health and welfare concerns for antiterrorism assistance and explosive detection canines», the survey indicates that in August 2019, 10 DS/ATA dogs were repossessed from the Kingdom because they «were not being used for their intended purposes».

The report recalls that Morocco is one of the countries that received earlier this year canines under the antiterrorism assistance program.

It explains that the abovementioned program has allowed several countries, including Morocco, to receive training and equipment to «enhance the ability of law enforcement to deter and counter terrorism».
