A Moroccan national who has been living in the Netherlands for almost fifty years will not be expelled after receiving a prison sentence. A court in Groningen, city in the northern Netherlands, ruled that the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) cannot revoke his residence permit, Noordhollands Dagblad reports.

The man in question arrived in the Netherlands when he was four years old. He is currently held in prison for two rapes, attempted homicide and three burglaries. After he was convicted, IND decided to strip him of his residence permit.

The man went to court, which annulled the IND’s former decision.
