Morocco’s central bank warns against card skimming fraud

Morocco’s central bank Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) warned Moroccans against card skimming fraud. In a communiqué sent to Yabiladi, BAM explains that its warning has been issued after it received a letter from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) regarding the threat.

DGSN reports that police in Marrakech discovered, between December 13 and 15, skimming devices, which can capture the information stored on the card's magnetic strip, on ATMs.

The central bank therefore asks banks to take the necessary measures to avoid the occurrence of this fraud.
