Thirteen Moroccans found themselves trapped in the port of Abidjan, in Ivory Coast, after having boarded a boat to migrate to Europe.

According to the Moroccan embassy in Cote d'Ivoire, these Moroccan nationals were detained at a police station in the port of Abidjan after their illegal entry into Cote d'Ivoire.

«These Moroccan nationals arrived Thursday, December 26, as stowaways, abroad a ship that belongs to 'Grimaldi Lines', represented in Cote d'Ivoire by the company TCI Africa, coming from the port of Casablanca, believing that said ship was heading to Europe», the embassy said in a communiqué.

After checks, the Moroccan diplomatic representation issued, on Friday afternoon, «passes» to the people concerned, so that they can be repatriated to Morocco.

The thirteen Moroccans were sent on a flight by Royal Air Maroc to Casablanca and are expected to arrive on Tuesday morning, concludes the press release.
