Dutch politician Geert Wilders stirs controversy with his «Mohammed cartoon contest»

Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders held over the weekend a controversial competition dedicated to drawing cartoons caricaturing Prophet Mohammed, the Independent reports.

On Saturday, Wilders asked people on Twitter to submit their Mohammed cartoons as part of a competition he launched last year. «Freedom of speech must prevail over violence and Islamic fatwas», he wrote.

On Sunday, the Dutch politician revealed the winning drawing, announcing the end of his controversial contest. «Mission accomplished. End of contest», he wrote, posting a picture, portraying the prophet as an «angry-looking man with a bear dressed in black», the same source added.

The leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV) had to cancel an event dedicated to the same contest last year after he received death threats.
