Solidarity sit-ins are to take place, Wednesday, in Paris and Thursday in Casablanca to show support for Moroccan journalist Omar Radi, who is charged with offending a judge with a tweet.
Initiated by the Paris-Ile-de-France office of the Moroccan Human Rights Association (AMDH), the organizers of the Paris sit-in aim to defend freedom of speech and opinion in Morocco.
«Freedom of expression is increasingly at risk. Several activists (journalists, artists, YouTubers, human rights defenders, etc.) have been arbitrarily arrested by the Moroccan authorities only because they have expressed their rage at the social and political situation», organizers said in a statement announcing the sit-in.
A second sit-in will be held tomorrow in Casablanca before the court to protest against the trial of Moroccan journalist Omar Radi, who will be attending a second hearing, pending his trial.
