Members of the Newport Islamic Society (NIS) have traveled to a fire-ravaged town in Australia to support exhausted firefighters amid devastating blazes, wrote the Daily Mail Australia.

Over the weekend, members of the Muslim NGO cooked meals for firefighters at the Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Brigade. «It was very emotional to see how tired and drained they were. They were just exhausted», a volunteer told the same source.

In addition to cooking, the group brought five truckloads of much-needed items to be delivered across the affected region. «It felt really good to at least give them a feed and prey for them and show we are thinking of them», the same volunteer added.

Hundreds of houses were destroyed by the blazes in East Gippsland in Australia and many communities have been forced to leave the region.
