Turkey arrests scammer who promised Moroccan women Turkish husbands

In Turkey, the authorities arrested a man who has allegedly defrauded 600 Moroccan women after he was invited to a talk show last week. The man in question admitted on live television that he brought 600 women from Morocco to find them Turkish husbands.

According to Turkish newspaper Haberler, M.S. said during the same talk show that he took money from these Moroccan women to find them Turkish husbands.

«They paid me 50,000 dirhams to get them Turkish husbands», the 50-year-old man said, adding that he also defrauded men. «Very old Turkish men, especially from the Kutahya region, gave me 90,000 dirhams to find them young Moroccan women», he said.

One of his victims, who was also invited to the same talk show, said that the man came back from Morocco with a young woman for him to marry. However, she allegedly «disappeared» after he gave him money.

Turkish police arrested M.S. at the end of the show, because his statements were considered confessions.
