The US Department of State announced, Monday, in a press release that its Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs is expected to tour Africa from February 4 to 13. David Hale will visit Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Niger.

The American diplomat will discuss with the leaders of these countries ways of fighting against terrorism in the Sahel region.

In Mali, a senior official from the French Foreign Ministry, Philippe Errera, will attend the meeting that is expected to bring together David Hale and President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.

The diplomat, however, will not stop in Morocco nor Algeria to discuss the recent development of the Western Sahara question.

In the upcoming weeks, the UN secretary general will present a new report on the situation in the province.
