Moroccan professional footballer Khalid Boutaib to see his contract with Egyptian club Zamalek terminated, the club’s president Mortada Mansour announced on Tuesday.

According to daily newspaper Ahram, Mansour said that the Moroccan striker «has been absent for long and [the club] failed to reach him».

In a press conference held on Tuesday, Mansour added that Boutaib «kept skipping the team’s training sessions», which led to the decision.

The 32-year-old footballer joined Zamalek in January 2019 after he was playing for Turkish club Maltayspor.

The same source reported that Boutaib has been out of action since October 2019 due to a knee injury. The Moroccan player made 16 appearances with Zamalek, during which he scored four goals.
