A car was driven into the crowd during a carnival in Volkmarsen, Hesse on Monday, injuring at least 30 people.
Thirty people, including 18 children, were injured when a 29-year-old local German citizen drove deliberately into the crowd, AFP reported, quoting a police spokesperson. The driver was arrested 280km southwest of Berlin on the same day.
«The investigation — especially into the background of the crime — is ongoing. No information can currently be given on the motive in particular», police added.
The tragedy comes after nine people were killed in Hanau in a right-wing terror attack that targetted two shisha bars.
On February 14, German authorities announced the dismantling of a far-right terrorist cell planning to attack the country's Muslims.
