Tanger-Med : Ferries coming from Italy to undergo coronavirus checks

An Italian ferry linking Genoa to Tangier was blocked when it docked at the Tanger-Med port on Tuesday. Passengers and crewmembers had to stay in the ferry and undergo checks to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

According to French-language newspaper Le360, which quotes a port official, «all ferries coming from countries where coronavirus cases have been recorded are checked before entering the port».

This comes as the Tanger-Med port announced, Wednesday, that it is strengthening preventive measures amid the outbreak in several countries.

These measures target passengers and ferries coming from the mainly affected countries, including China, South Korea and Italy. Flights from Italy, where the virus has increasingly spread, have been halted.
