Medical device companies in Morocco have re-exported thousands of medical masks to China, after they were imported before the eruption of the coronavirus, Spanish news agency EFE reports.
Morocco has two units for manufacturing medical masks, as well as another unit of the Royal Gendarmerie, which cover between 15% and 20% of the local market's needs.
The rest is imported exclusively from China, according to data provided by the Moroccan Association of Medical Devices Professionals (AMPDM) and published by L’Economiste.
The massive export of masks is not expected to affect the local market, the newspaper wrote , adding that local operators can sgtill meet the demands of health professionals in Morocco.
No coronavirus (COVID-19) case has been recorded in Morocco since the eruption of the deadly virus in December in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The 19 suspected cases have all tested negative for coronavirus in Morocco.
