On Thursday, the Moroccan government suspended all cultural activities, sports events, seminars and other meetings attended by foreign guests as part of its plan to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus.

In a note, addressed to the National Olympic committee, sports federations and other departments, the Culture and Sport Ministry indicated that the measure is to be implemented on March 5.

«The ban covers events attended by more than 1,000 people», the ministry explained, adding that «all festivals, expect moussems» will be banned.

For the record, Morocco confirmed two coronavirus cases this week. The two patients have been to Italy in February.
