During the same press conference, the Minister reported that «most of these cases are imported». However, he warned that some of them were «infected locally».

«The emergence of local confirmed cases shows that we have to remain vigilant and cautious during the upcoming days which might be crucial», he said.

Meanwhile, the minister said «1,362 is the number of people who were in contact with the confirmed cases».

«Morocco has 44 hospitals that can house the confirmed cases», the minister said, adding that «the country has 1,640 reanimation beds, including 684 in the public sector and 504 in the private one».

Morocco also has «70 beds in military hospitals, 130 ones in public utility institutions» and plans to provide 250 others.

The minister explained that «today only the Ministry received 2,000 calls through the hotlines» set to assist citizens with suspected coronavirus symptoms. He also promised that a portal called www.covidmaroc.ma will provide information on the Covid-19 situation in Morocco.

During his briefing, Ait Taleb urged Moroccans to stay home and comply with the preventive measures and decisions taken by the authorities to avoid the spread of the virus.
