Chad announced on Thursday its first confirmed coronavirus case. According to Reuters, the patient is a Moroccan national who came from Cameroon.
«The patient is already taken care of by the medical services. The government wishes to reassure the national and international communities that all measures are being taken to contain the pandemic», Chadian media Alwihda Info reports.
However, Cameroonian Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute announced Tuesday, in a speech, thirteen measures including the closure of land, air and sea borders to deal with the pandemic. The country has recorded so far 13 confirmed cases, according to figures announced on Thursday.
Reuters said John Nkengasong, director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Africa, warned Thursday that the number of confirmed cases on the continent will likely increase in the coming weeks.
In Africa, Egypt remains the country most affected by this pandemic, the cases tested positive for the new coronavirus having gone over 200 people.
