The total number of Covid-19 infections in Morocco reached 1021 on Sunday.

The number of the suspected cases that tested negative for the virus stands at 3,827.

The number of coronavirus-related deaths has reached 70.

76 is the number of people who recovered after testing positive for coronavirus.

Mohamed Lyoubi said that the Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, Marrakech-Safi and Fes-Meknes regions have the highest numbers of confirmed cases.

The official addressed the increasing number of confirmed cases witnessed in the last three days. Indeed, on Friday, Morocco recorded 83 cases, while 128 new cases were confirmed yesterday.

«There are two factors that explain this increase. In fact, most of the new confirmed cases were recorded within the same families and households in several cities», he said. «This is explained by the fact that the people who are leaving the houses may be the reason behind this spread», he added.

The second factor, he said, is screening the people who were in close contact with confirmed cases, he said, recalling that 7,000 people were identified to be in close contact with confirmed cases. 192 of them tested positive for the virus.
