Starting from Tuesday, Moroccans who go outside during the lockdown will be required to wear face masks, the country’s state-owned news agency reported on Monday evening.
The decision was announced in a joint statement by the ministries of Interior, Health, Economy, Finance and administrative reform and Industry, trade and green and digital economy.
In their joint statement, the ministries announced that they have taken «all measures» for the marketing and distribution of masks, produced locally and sold for 0.8 dirhams per unit. The price of the masks is subsidized by the Special Fund, created to manage the coronavirus crisis.
The ministries recall that any violation of these provisions could result in jail sentences ranging from one to three months and a fine from 300 to 1,300 dirhams.
