Morocco : Confirmed coronavirus cases reach 1,374 while recoveries jump to 109

99 confirmed coronavirus cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing to 1,374 the total number of Covid-19 infections in Morocco, Mohamed Lyoubi, who heads the infectious diseases department at the Health Ministry, said Thursday during a press briefing. 

As for the death toll, Lyoubi said that in total 97 people died after contracting the virus in Morocco while 109 recovered.

The official revealed that the regions of Casabalanca-Settat (29%), Marrakech-Safi (19%), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (15%) and Fes-Meknes (12%) house the highest number of Covid-infections in Morocco. Lyoubi said that 90% of the confirmed coronavirus cases are local while only 10% are imported.

Lyoubi said that 8,646 people were in close contact with confirmed cases. 504 of them tested positive for the virus. He also explained that 15% of the confirmed cases were asymptomatic, 70% presented mild conditions and 15% presented severe ones.
