Morocco registered 102 new confirmed cases of the new coronavirus (Covid-19), in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases registered in the country to 1,763. The country has also registered 8 new deaths, bringing the number of deaths to 126, as well as 26 recoveries, 203 in total, confirmed by laboratory tests.
During the daily press briefing on the pandemic situation in Morocco, the chief of the directorate of epidemiology and the fight against infectious diseases at the Ministry of Health, Mohamed Lyoubi clarified that during these last 24 hours also, 64 of the infected cases are in intensive care.
Regarding the clinical condition of the patients treated, Mohamed Lyoubi said that 70% were mild, 16% asymptomatic and 14% critical. As for the average age of patients, it is 47 years. The age group between 40 and 65 is that where the majority of Covid-19 positive cases are found, followed by that of the 25-40 year age group.
Furthermore, the geographic distribution of positive test cases did not experience any significant changes. The regions with highest numbers are Casablanca-Settat, Marrakech-Safi, Fez-Meknes then Rabat-Salé-Kenitra.
Since the start of the pandemic in the country, 759 infections have been confirmed among 11,608 contact cases followed or tested. 5,108 of contact cases remain under medical supervision.
