To participate in the fight against the spread of the new coronavirus, American company Apple, has released its Mobility Trends. The feature is a barometer that compiles mobility data of Apple product users from around the world.

In Morocco, mobility trends by car dropped drastically from March 14 to March 21. As for walking, trends show a decrease from March 7 onwards.

The decline started stagnating by March 21. The day before, Moroccan authorities had declared a state of health emergency, imposing a lockdown and an intercity travel ban. It is thus recorded that the mobility of Moroccans on-foot has decreased by -83% and the driving mobility by -82% between January 13 and April 13.

For the record, Moroccans with Apple smartphones are less numerous than those with Android-run smartphones. For the moment, the Google’s Community Mobility Reports do not include Morocco.
