As of Sunday, April 19, Morocco recorded 170 new confirmed coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of Covid_19 infections in the country to 2,855.
Morocco also recorded 13 new recoveries, 327 in total, as well as four new deaths, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the Kingdom to 141.
«The rapid evolution of this pandemic in Morocco requires careful reading but the situation is under control thanks to the preventive and anticipatory measures that have been put in place», Health Minister Khalid Ait Taleb said on Sunday.
He assured that studies carried out in the country gave a particular reading on the evolution. «The state of health emergency, the confinement, and the treatment protocol as well as wearing face masks have saved us from the worst», he said, calling for «capitalizing on these measures because we have not yet come to the end of this situation».
He recalled that the rapid evolution of new cases detected in the kingdom is mainly due to the hotbeds of infection recorded in several regions of Morocco.
«We must remain cautious but I confirm that the situation is under control. We have therefore decided to extend the state of health emergency until we are sure of the situation», he said.
«We have started well and must continue to do so to end this state of health emergency and avoid the worst. Therefore, we must all comply with these measures, because they have yielded positive results».
