A new political structure opposed to the Polisario, launched in Spain

A political formation, opposed to the Polisario, was created Wednesday in Spain. The structure, called «Sahrawis for peace», brings together 150 former members of the Polisario Front, its founders said in a press release sent to Yabiladi.

The members of the new structure indicate that they «defend a peaceful solution» and also say that they are ready to «participate to a consensual and lasting solution» to the Western Sahara question.

The movement plans to conduct diplomatic actions towards «the United Nations, the African Union and European Union, as well as with the governments of Spain, Morocco, the Polisario Front, Algeria, Mauritania, France and the United States».

«Sahrawis for Peace» intends to organize its first congress «in the upcoming twenty-four months». Meanwhile, the initiative will create a political committee made up of 13 members and 6 advisers.

The founders of the movement say they are determined to avoid making the same mistakes that caused the failure of the Sahrawi Initiative for Change, launched in November 2011 from inside the Tindouf camps.
