Morocco records 102 new confirmed coronavirus cases, 4,423 in total

As of Thursday afternoon, Morocco recorded 102 new confirmed coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections to 4,423.

«A significant proportion of these cases have been recorded in the Marrakech-Safi and Casablanca-Settat regions», said Mohamed Lyoubi, head of the epidemiology and infectious diseases department at the Ministry of Health, during the daily press briefing.

He added that the total number of people who tested negative for the virus since the beginning of the outbreak in Morocco is 30,418.

Between Wednesday and Thursday, Morocco also recorded two additional deaths, bringing the death toll to 170, said Mohamed Lyoubi, noting that the fatality rate has dropped to 3.8%.

The Kingdom also recorded 56 new recoveries during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people who recovered from Covid-19 to 984. The recovery rate has thus jumped to 22.2%, the official said.
