Coronavirus : Recoveries exceed 1,000 and R0 is closer to 1 in Morocco

As of Friday afternoon, Morocco recorded 146 new confirmed coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 4,569.

The number of recoveries rose to 1,083 with 99 new ones, while the number of fatalities rose to 171 cases. During the daily press briefing, the head of the epidemiology and fight against infectious diseases department at the Ministry of Health, Mohamed Lyoubi, said that the recovery rate stands at 23.7%.

It is a positive point regarding the rapidity of the spread of the coronavirus (R0), the official said adding that this figure is closer to 1, as announced by the Minister of Health yesterday. The R0 currently fluctuates between 1.04 and 1.07.

In addition, the number of cases excluded after testing negative for the virus is 32,437, according to the same source.

The confirmed cases are located as follows : 1,157 in Casablanca-Settat, 1,004 in Marrakech-Safi, 619 in Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceïma, 573 in Fes-Meknes, 546 in Daraa-Tafilalet, 326 in Rabat-Sale-Kenitra, 175 in the Oriental region, 83 in Beni Mellal-Khenifra, 51 in Souss-Massa, 29 in Guelmim-Oued Noun, 4 in Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra and 2 in Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab.
