Morocco records 182 recoveries as the total number of coronavirus cases reaches 4,903

As of Sunday, Morocco recorded 174 confirmed coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 4,903.

During the last 24 hours, 1,443 suspected cases tested negative for the virus, 36,081 in total, Mohamed Lyoubi, head of the epidemiology and disease control infectious diseases department at the Ministry of Health, said during a daily press briefing.

«The 174 new cases were recorded in the following regions : Casablanca-Settat, Fez-Meknes, Marrakech-Safi, Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima as well as Rabat-Salé-Kenitra», the official added.

Mohamed Lyoubi indicated that the majority of these cases were in close contact with confirmed cases.

In addition, one death was recorded between yesterday and today, bringing the death toll to 174.

Morocco also recorded 182 recoveries over the same period, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 1,438. The recovery rate continues to climb, now reaching 29.3% of cases. «81 recoveries were recorded in Ouarzazate», he said, noting that two regions are now declared Covid-19 free, namely Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab.
