Forbes : A Casablanca-born billionaire ranks among the world’s richest Arabs

Moroccan-French-Portuguese-Israeli billionaire Patrick Drahi, born in Casablanca in 1963 and ranked third by Forbes.

According to Forbes, he is among the 8 richest Arabs. The same source recalls that Patrick Drahi owns 60% of the shares of Altice NV, which he founded. Through his Netherlands-based company, the billionaire owns 75% of the largest French cable operator, Numericable. 

Forbes points out that the son of two math teachers, already worked in the American market in 2015 by buying 70% of the cable operator Suddenlink for $ 9 billion and Cablevision for $ 17.7 billion.

In October 2019, Patrick Drahi acquired the Sotheby's auction house for $ 2.6 billion, transforming the business, created over 275 years ago, into a private business.

Lebanese-Mexican Carlos Slim Helú comes first with $ 52.1 billion, while Joseph Safra, Brazilian billionaire banker of Lebanese origin, is second with $ 19.9 billion. The fortune of Patrick Drahi, third in the ranking, is estimated, according to Forbes, at $ 7.1 billion.
