As of Wednesday, May 13, Morocco recorded 94 new confirmed coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 6,512.
Most of the new cases were recorded in the Casablanca-Settat region. Cases have been detected, to a lesser extent, in the regions of Fez-Meknes and Marrakech-Safi, Mohamed Lyoubi, head of the epidemiology department at the Ministry of Health, said during the daily press briefing. Seven regions did not register any case during the last 24 hours.
The official said that 86% (81) of these new cases were in close contact with previously confirmed cases.
During the last 24 hours, no deaths have been recorded, the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 therefore remains at 188. The fatality rate reached 2.9%.
Morocco also recorded 140 recoveries, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 3,131 cases. Thus, the recovery rate reaches 48.1%, concluded Mohamed Lyoubi.
