Morocco records 45 new coronavirus cases in three regions only

As of Tuesday, May 26, Morocco recorded 45 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections to 7,577.

Two deaths were also recorded during the same period, bringing the death toll to 202. The fatality rate currently stands at 2.7%. 107 new recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,881.

Most of the new confirmed cases (37) were recorded in Casablanca-Settat, five in Marrakech-Safi and three in Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, the head of the epidemiology department at the Ministry of Health Mohamed Lyoubi said during a daily press briefing.  

Lyoubi said that the median age of the new infected patients is 35 years old. «We are starting to see less infections among people over 65. This category represents only 4.3% of all active cases», he said, noting that men represent 42% of active cases while women represent 58% of them. Lyoubi also said that only 0.6% of active cases are severe.
