Former Moroccan Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi passed away on Friday at the age of 96. The lawyer, human rights activist and politician was born in Tangier. He served as Morocco’s Prime Minister from 1998 to 2002.

The First Secretary of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) Driss Lachgar announced the sad news on his Facebook account, Friday, extending his condolences to the family of the deseaced and to all Moroccans.

He also recalled that Abderrahmane Youssoufi was a «great nationalist» who fought against the French protectorate.
