A Moroccan who lives in Ceuta and who was stranded in the Kingdom since March died on Sunday. Omar Mohamed Abdelah, 72, suffered from heart disease and died after his health condition detoriated while he was stranded, El Faro de Ceuta explains.

His family based in the Spanish enclave launched on Saturday an appeal to the authorities of the two countries to authorize his repatriation aboard a medical ambulance taking into account his state of health. For many years, this man worked in catering in San Amaro.

The Moroccan went to Morocco with his wife and two daughters on March 13, the same day that the Tarajal border crossing was closed. Suffering from heart disease, he had three catheterizations and pneumonia.

«We tried to speak with the (Spanish) embassy in Rabat and the (Spanish) consulate in Tetouan but the only solution they offered us was to return via the ships that left Tangier», said one of his daughters, Omaima Mohamed Rahou.

This tragedy is added to that of Driss Aboufiras, resident in Spain, who died last week in Morocco. The late Aboufiras suffered from renal failure and was also awaiting his repatriation.
