Moroccan-Egyptian model Imaan Hammam attends Black Lives Matter protests in Amsterdam

Several celebrities and influencers have joined in recent days, the campaign denouncing police violence in the United States following the death of George Floyd. Moroccan-Egyptian model Imaan Hammam was one of them.

The 23-year-old model shared photos on her Instagram account while attending the Black Lives Matter protests that took place on Monday in Amsterdam, Arab News reports.

«Incredibly powerful to be back home in Amsterdam standing together in solidarity against anti-black violence. This is not just an American issue, this is a human issue. We need to come together to fight racism, injustice and inequality», she wrote.

Several celebrities have joined protests against police violence and racism, including American singers Beyoncé and Ariana Grande, French-Algerian actress Sofia Boutella and African-American actor Jamie Foxx.

On May 25, George Floyd, an African-American, was killed in Minneapolis. While Floyd was handcuffed and lying face down, a Minneapolis police officer, kept his knee on the right side of his neck which led to his death. Floyd’s death triggered a series of protests in the United States and around the world.
