Morocco records 82 new confirmed coronavirus cases, mostly in the north

As of Saturday, June 13, Morocco recorded 82 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 8,692.

59 of these new cases were recorded in Larache (29 cases), Al Fahs Anjra (22 cases), Tangier (6 cases) and Tetouan (2 cases working in Al Fahs Anjra). In addition, 7 cases were recorded in the province of Rhamna (within the same household) and 4 cases in Marrakech, while 10 cases (9 in Casablanca and 1 case in El Jadida) were recorded in the Casablanca-Settat region. The regions of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra and the Oriental each recorded one confirmed case.

No deaths were recorded during the past 24 hours and the death toll stands at 212 deaths. 78 new recoveries were recorded during the same period, bringing the total number to 7,696. Thus, the recovery rate is at 88.5%.

As for active cases in Morocco, they reach 784, a rate of 2.2 per 100,000 inhabitants. «97% of these cases are still in the Casablanca-Settat, Marrakech-Safi, Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Rabat-Salé-Kenitra and Fez-Meknes region», according to the health Ministry.

12 cases were found in Beni Mellal-Khenifra, 5 in the Oriental region and one case each in Souss-Massa and Guelmim-Oued Noun.

The average age for active cases in Morocco is 33 years with 58% of men and 42% of women.

114 of the patients are children and are distributed over the regions of Marrakech-Safi (66 children), Casablanca-Settat (23), Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (11), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (6), Rabat -Salé-Kenitra (4), Fez-Meknes (3) and one child in Souss-Massa. 12 cases are currently in intensive care (eight in Casablanca and four in Tangier), four of which are on artificial respiration devices.
