On Sunday, the Algerian police prevented Moroccans stranded in Algeria from marching to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where they planned to observe a sit-in, Algerian TV channel Al Hayat and daily newspaper El Khabar report.

The sit-in has reportedly been decided on after «the kingdom's ambassador» to Algiers «refused to receive protesters who demand their repatriation».

The last repatriation operation carried out by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to bring back home Moroccans stranded in Algeria because of the coronavirus took place on June 4.

For the record, it was during a very lively discussion with a group of Moroccans, who complained about the poor conditions of their accommodation, that former Moroccan consul in Oran, Boutaher Aherdane, called «Algeria an enemy» country.

Many stranded Moroccans have also observed sit-ins before Morocco’s consulates and embassies in Europe to demand their urgent repatriation.
