Morocco has reportedly ordered 36 Sherpa armored vehicles, which are French-made, Defensa reports. «The Moroccan army has contracted a very small number of Sherpa vehicles in two different versions, perhaps because they are intended for one of the special forces units that the army wishes to equip to meet operational needs», the same source wrote.
Defensa recalls that the Moroccan army operates only two types of tactical armored vehicles, USA-made Humvees. It indicates that Morocco owns 2,000 units, and an unknown number of VAMTAC four-wheel drive vehicles produced by the Spanish company Urovesa.
Last month, Arquus celebrated the production of its 1,000th Sherpa, Defensa wrote. The Sherpa family was introduced in Eurosatory in 2006, and after fourteen years of production, it has been exported to different countries, including Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, Chile and Indonesia.
For the record, Arquus, the former Renault Trucks Defense, delivered in 2019 2,200 military vehicles.
