Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent on Thursday a message to King Mohammed VI, expressing his «relief» after the successful surgery that the sovereign underwent recently.
«Your Majesty, the King and dear brother, I learned with immense relief and assurance about the successful the surgery that you underwent. On this occasion, I can only thank God, Almighty, for His grace, begging him to grant you a speedy recovery and to protect you from all harm», wrote President Tebboune, in a message relayed by the state news agency Algeria Press service (APS).
This message comes as tensions have resumed between Algiers and Rabat, after a viral video that showed the former Moroccan consul in Oran referring to Algeria as «an enemy» country.
Last week, the spokesperson for the Algerian presidency said that the Moroccan council left Algeria at the request of Algiers. The Moroccan Foreign Affairs Minister called the statement «ridiculous».
On the other hand, Morocco has secretly summoned the Algerian ambassador, Abdelhamid Abdaoui, who has been in office in Rabat since September 2019.
