Morocco : 103 new coronavirus cases, mainly in Fez and Casablanca

103 new coronavirus cases were recorded during the past 24 hours in Morocco, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 12,636.

106 new recoveries were recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom to 9,026, with a recovery rate of 71.4%.

No new deaths were recorded during the same period. The death toll stands at 228, with a fatality rate of 1.8%. Morocco has 3,382 active cases currently being treated. The Ministry of Health also explained that the country also has 17 severe and critical cases due to age or chronic diseases or both factors at the same time.

Most of the new cases were recorded in the Fez-Meknes region, with 40 new infections, including 37 cases in Fez, two in Sefrou and one in Meknes. 

In Casablanca-Settat, 22 new cases were recorded, including 12 in Casablanca, 2 in Mohammedia, 3 in Sidi Bennour and 5 cases in Mediouna. 12 other new cases were recorded in Marrakech-Safi, including 5 in Marrakech, 5 cases in Safi and two cases in the Al Haouz province.

In the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, 9 new cases were recorded, including 6 cases in Kenitra and 3 cases in Sidi Kacem. In the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, 6 new cases were recorded, including 5 in Tangier and one in M’diq. In the Oriental region, three cases were recorded in the city of Oujda and two others were recorded in the city of Jerada.

In the southern provinces, 6 new cases were recorded in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, all located in Laayoune. Three cases were also recorded in the city of Dakhla in the Dakhla-Oued Ed-dahab region.

No new cases were recorded during the last 24 hours in the regions of Draa-Tafilalet, Beni Mellal-Khenifra, Souss-Massa and Guelmim-Oued Noun.
