The Spanish government does not know when the land border with Morocco will be reopened, the Spanish Finance Minister and Government spokesperson Maria Jesus Montero said on Tuesday.
Ceuta and Melilla’s border crossings will remain closed until Morocco decides to open them, she added.
While insisting that she has no further information about the topic, the minister said that «Rabat has not officially communicated about the matter». «So far, Moroccans have not set a date for the possible reopening of the border», she revealed.
Economic and political circles in Ceuta and Melilla fear the financial and social costs of a possible extension of the border closure with Morocco until next fall.
