On Friday, the new flight program of Morocco’s national carrier was released. Obtained by Yabiladi, the program set up by Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is still pending the validation of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the countries involved.
Thus, special flights are planned for France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Canada, the United States, and Russia. This list as well as the dates and frequencies can be subjected to modifications if needed.
Bookings to start on Friday afternoon
As the «special» operation announced earlier this week is to start on July 15, it is expected to end by August 31. The period comes in the middle of summer holidays. The operation is a special one that does not mean the borders will be opened, announced Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita. It also should not be confused for a resumption of international flights.
The two national airlines authorized to operate these special flights, namely Air Arabia and Royal air Maroc, each submitted a special flight program. For RAM it is an average of 10 flights per day, which is much lower than the frequencies of flights in a normal summer season. A source within the airline company explained that this special flight program, if validated, will only represent 6% of the flight frequencies of RAM for the summer season 2019.
For ticket prices, our source says they will be on average lower than last summer's. The same source also pointed out that the flights will only be full in one direction given the restrictions of those eligible for the operation (Moroccans and foreigners stranded, Moroccans living abroad and their families, students, business trips).
Important clarification : Booking the tickets will be possible as of Friday afternoon (via the website, agencies and call centers) and are specific to these special flights. Previous reservations will therefore be canceled with the possibility of converting the credit for tickets on special flights.
