Coronavirus : Authorities strengthen containment measures in the city of Tangier

Local authorities in Tangier announced on Monday that the city will be fully confined starting from noon. The Interior Ministry said in a statement that the local authorities have decided to extend containment measures announced on Sunday in some neighborhoods and cover the entire city.

The measure includes the suspension of urban, rail and road transport, from and to Tangier. Authorities in the city will be strengthening control to encourage citizens to stay at home, and only leave when necessary.

Moving within the city of Tangier will require «an exceptional authorization issued by the local authorities», while another document, also issued by the local authorities, is required for those who want to leave the city.

Local authorities finally indicate that the easing of these measures remains linked to the development of the epidemiological situation in the city.

On Sunday evening, a statement from the Interior Ministry announced that it was decided to restrict confinement measures in some parts of the city. A measure that comes after the emergence of new Covid-19 hotspots in the city.
