Morocco is planning a package of 6 million dirhams in aid to help national carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) survive the coronavirus economic crisis, Finance Minister Mohamed Benchaaboun told Reuters on Monday.
The plan, which is part of the reviewed 2020 budget, constitutes of a state-guaranteed loan of 2.5 billion dirhams, a source within the finance ministry told the British news agency.
Due to the travel bans that followed the emergence of the coronavirus crisis, RAM recorded $5 million in daily losses. Struggling to overcome the crisis, the company cut jobs reduced fleet and cancelled destinations.
