«5,000 mosques will reopen their doors tomorrow», Islamic Affairs Minister Ahmed Taoufiq said this afternoon at the House of Councilors. «The list of these places of worship will be available on the website of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs», he said responding to a question.

The Minister listed the preventive measures that worshippers must observe before going to mosques, during and after the completion of the five prayers. These measures have already been communicated in a press release issued on July 7.

Ahmed Taoufiq stressed that the closure of mosques, decided on March 17, was intended to «protect worshippers».

The kingdom has more than 50,000 mosques, which means that this reopening only affects around 10% of places of worship.
