Salvamento Maritimo, a sea search and rescue agency that operates in Spain, announced on Tuesday that it evacutated a 33-year-old Moroccan woman to Almeria after giving birth on a ferry linking Sète (France) to Tangier (Morocco).
According to the spokesperson for the maritime security in Spanish waters, a call was received at around 2:46 pm from a GNV ferry called «Excellent», asking for a medical evacuation.
A Helimer 220 helicopter from the Almeria Maritime Rescue Coordination Center was mobilized, while a medical ambulance had to wait for the woman upon arrival, Diario de Almeria wrote.
The mother was transferred to Almeria airport, where she arrived at 4:00 p.m.
