Morocco : 220 new coronavirus cases, mainly in Casablanca, Fez and Tangier

220 new coronavirus cases were recorded during the past 24 hours in Morocco, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 17,962.

247 new recoveries were recorded during the same period, bringing the total number of recoveries to 15,636, with a recovery rate to 87,1%.

Five deaths were recorded, bringing the death toll to 285. The number of active cases in Morocco is 2,041.

Most of the new cases were recorded in the Casablanca-Settat region, with 66 cases : 61 in Casablanca, 3 in Mediouna and two cases in Nouaceur. Then comes Fez-Meknes with 50 new cases : 31 in Fez, 12 in Meknes, three cases in Moulay Yacoub, one case in Taounate, one case in Hajeb, one in Sefrou and one case in Ifrane.

In Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, 44 new cases were recorded : 27 in Tangier, 9 in Tetouan and 8 cases in Larache.  39 new infections were recorded in Marrakech-Safi, with 19 cases in Marrakech, 7 cases in Rhamna province, 6 cases in El Haouz province, four in Kelaat Sraghna and three cases in Safi.

In the Oriental region, 7 new cases appeared : 4 in Oujda, 2 in Nador and one in Berkane. 5 cases were recorded in the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, all in Témara, while three cases have been identified in Tinghir and one case has been detected in Ouarzazate, in the region of Drâa-Tafilalet.

Three new cases were recorded in Dakhla (Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab) and two cases in Laayoune (Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra).
